The creatives are tested in virtual computers with moderate specifications (currently 1.5 Ghz, 920 Mb ram, Windows XP SP3, Internet Explorer 7, Flash 10).
The browser process is the only process running in the virtual machine, and its CPU usage is measured several times per second.
A line graph is generated and three key metrics are computed; average CPU usage, peak CPU usage and sustained peak CPU usage (the maximum average over a 2 second interval).
The average and sustained peak metrics are compared against the current validation settings and the creative is given a pass or fail status for CPU usage.
If a creative is validated more than once it is likely to display slightly different CPU usage due to it being measured in a real environment with variations in operating system CPU scheduling, network performance and other factors.
Click tracking is verified in two ways. First, we decompile the flash file and inspect the source code looking for your clickTag. Towards the end of the validation process we also automatically click the creative and verify that the URL we supplied as click tracking parameter is actually loaded.
Since we click the creative at the same coordinates every time (the upper left corner, approximately 25 pixels in, 25 pixels down) there will be times when we won't be able to verify the click. This happens for instance when keyboard input or two clicks are required, or when only a small area of the banner is clickable.
Yes, if you select show code/details in the report.
No, that is not possible. But if you let us know what's missing, we can add it for you.
Our philosophy has always been "detect everything you throw at us, no matter the format". Because of this there are really no specific requirements for pasted tags, uploaded files or forwarded e-mails. Extensive testing with hundreds of different creatives has been performed to ensure accuracy.
In most cases adding support for a new provider simply means that we verify that everything works as expected and figure out how to name the creatives in a good way.
Sometimes we stumble up on more advanced tags though. If that happens you can simply forward them to us and we'll figure them out and add them to the list.
We do support detection of expandable creatives in tags. This is done in several steps.
We will first compare the tag dimensions with the dimensions of the loaded creative. If they differ in height or width we will report it. If they differ in both height and width we will not report it, as it is most likely just a scaled creative.
During validation we will also measure the creative several times after which we will hover the creative and measure again. Using this data we will make educated guesses about expandable behavior.
No, currently we do not check to see if there are multiple creatives running on the same tag. When we add support to monitor active tags for changes we will be able to discover if there are multiple creatives rotating on the same tags. There are however limitations to this. The ads could be targeted towards a geographic location, browser, time of day etc.

Yes, the default setting stores jobs for 30 days and older than these are deleted. However, depending on which plan you have opted for you may change this setting.
We detect all image types and report their file size and dimension. However, the system cannot associate a specific backup image with a specific flash file (imagine a case with a zip containing several flash and image files of the same dimensions).
Yes, you can set a file size limit for each individual ad dimension you support.
This is a feature we are working on.
Not yet, but we are working on it.

Yes, you can sort the validation jobs by the user who submitted them.
No, we haven't found a way to do this in an automated way. Let us know if you have any ideas.
Are you missing a validation setting? Please contact us and we'll be happy to discuss it with you.
An expired tag will usually have its dimensions reported as 1x1 or 1x2 since no creative is displayed during validation. This is currently the only indication of an expired tag.
